Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially launched the River Hongbao 2012 at the Float @ Marina Bay on Saturday night. The annual Lunar New Year carnival kicked off with a large firework display, marking the start of the event. PM Lee said: "I hope the dragon year will bring good luck and prosperity to Singapore and I hope Singaporean parents will bring many babies for us during the dragon year. I can see it coming". Visitors to the carnival were treated to a song-and-dance item by performers from China's Guangxi province. There were large hand-crafted lanterns on display as well as booths featuring traditional Chinese arts and craft.
